Small Animals Aquatics Room
Welcome to the Aquatics Room at Bristol Aggie.
The Aquatics Room is home to nine fish tanks, three leopard geckos and our red eared slider turtle. Four Small Animal Senior Majors are in charge of caring for these animals and keeping the room in tip-top shape! Their responsibilities include vacuuming the fish and turtle tanks on a weekly basis to get rid waste products and excess food. Vacuuming also allows space for new, clean water!
The Aquatics Room keepers also maintain a log of water quality tests such as pH levels. Keeping weekly logs allows us to adjust levels to maintain optimal health. We also record temperatures to ensure that all of our fish are kept in an appropriate environment like they would be in the wild.
In addition to our various fish tanks the leopard geckos are favorites in this room. If you look in their cage you will see a mulch substrate that needs to be kept moist for optimal health. We currently have two female and one male leopard gecko.
What do our fish eat? Our fish are fed one of three kinds of fish food depending on their species. Our red eared slider turtle eats a special kind of pellet and the geckos are given live food suck as meal worms or an occasional pinkie mouse.
The seniors take great pride in being able to provide the Aquatics Room animals with a pleasant home and appropriate care!
